Action Steps – Camp Courage Training Sessions
The Courage Campaign is sponsoring Camp Courage,
an intensive one-day training in community organizing techniques for those who are committed to repealing Proposition 8 and restoring marriage equality to California.
You will be trained in the basics of door-to-door canvassing, organizing a phonebank and house party, recruiting and energizing volunteer leaders, and engaging with people in “red” counties and neighborhoods.
WHAT: Camp Courage, for activists and organizers working to repeal Prop 8
WHERE: Los Angeles, venue TBA
WHEN: Full-day training on Sunday, Jan. 25 (8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.)NOTE: A reception featuring Cleve Jones will kick off the training on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 7:30 p.m. (venue TBD).
Attendees will be expected to commit to organizing to overturn Proposition 8, including circulating the Courage Campaign pledge, which asks Californians to support a ballot initiative repealing the ban on same-sex marriage.
A background in community organizing or an organizational affiliation is not a requirement to attend Camp Courage. The only requirements are energy, commitment, and a desire to broaden your leadership abilities.
